Karpowership Ghana dismisses shutdown fears

Karpowership Ghana has assured the public that its power supply remains stable despite ongoing discussions with the government over accumulated debt.

Speaking to Joy Business, Sandra Amarquaye, Communication Manager for Karpowership Ghana, confirmed that the company is in negotiations with the Ministry of Energy to address outstanding financial obligations.

“We had a meeting with the Minister of Energy to bring to his attention the accumulated debt and engage in negotiations,” she said, emphasizing that discussions are ongoing.

Ms. Amarquaye clarified that there is no immediate risk of a power shutdown, stating, “Based on our engagement with the government, there is no threat of a shutdown.”

She further reaffirmed Karpowership Ghana’s commitment to its partnership with the country, stressing that both parties are working towards a mutually beneficial resolution.

“Our relationship with Ghana remains strong, and we are committed to working collaboratively towards a sustainable solution,” she added.

Her comments come amid growing concerns about Ghana’s energy sector and the financial commitments required to sustain power supply agreements.
