Police Chief Inspector Daniel Ofori-Appiah told the court that the complainant, Mr Emmanuel Sarkodie, serves as the Transport Officer of DBS Roofing Sheet Company Limited, located on the Spintex Road.
He said Arthur, a resident of Martey Ma in Teshie and an operator with the same company, allegedly stole the truck head with registration number GS 2587-20 from the company’s warehouse near the Tema Motorway.
According to the prosecution, the complainant arrived at work on September 8 and realised the vehicle had gone missing.
After a report was filed at the Manet Police Station, a tip-off from witness Anthony Sackey led to Arthur’s arrest.
Investigations revealed that the accused had been planning the theft since 2024. On September 6, around 5:50 a.m., he allegedly used a towing vehicle to move the truck to Martey Tsuru to find a buyer.
Three days later, he attempted to relocate it again with another towing vehicle, but was arrested at Achimota.
He was transferred from the Tesano Police Station to the Manet Police Station for further investigation.
Chief Inspector Ofori-Appiah said the accused admitted to the offence in his cautioned statement. After concluding investigations, police established that he indeed committed the crime.
