Date: May 19, 2023 – In a farewell call, His Excellency Pingrenoma Zagre, the Ambassador of the Republic of Burkina Faso to Ghana and Dean of the Diplomatic Corps, met with Ghana's Minister for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Hon. Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey, on Friday. During the meeting, both parties expressed appreciation for the deepened bilateral relations between the two countries.
Ambassador Zagre conveyed his gratitude to the Ghanaian government and its people for the support extended to him during his six-year tenure in Ghana. He highlighted the significant progress made in various areas of cooperation, including high-level visits, electricity connection projects, and the development of railway infrastructure, which have contributed to better connectivity between the two nations.
The Ambassador also praised Ghanaians for their exceptional hospitality, evident in the presence of a sizable Burkinabe community in Ghana. Furthermore, he commended Ghana for its assistance during challenging times and reaffirmed Burkina Faso's commitment to strengthening the existing cordial relations.
In response, Minister Ayorkor Botchwey expressed her sincere appreciation to Ambassador Zagre for his efforts in promoting Ghana-Burkina Faso relations and acknowledged his role as the Dean of the Diplomatic Corps.
She reassured the Ambassador of Ghana's commitment to the Ghana-Burkina Faso Permanent Joint Commission for Cooperation (PJCC), a platform through which various projects, including the electricity connection and railway development initiatives, are being implemented.
