Numerous passengers who travelled with British Airways (BA) from London to Accra have expressed their disappointment and frustration with the airline after discovering that their luggage had been left behind at Heathrow London upon arrival at Kotoka International Airport (KIA).
The passengers, taken aback by the turn of events, expressed confusion and discontent when they were informed that their luggage had been dropped.
“This is disgraceful and deceitful on the part of BA, and the least they can do is to charter an aircraft to immediately send the luggage to be reunited with passengers,” one passenger lamented to Joy Business.
BA Flight 081 was rescheduled to depart two hours earlier than the original time of 2 pm.
Some passengers revealed that upon arrival, they were handed forms indicating that British Airways was already aware of the situation before the plane left Heathrow London.
“The flight landed, and it was only when we were ready to exit the aircraft that we were told that some passengers' luggage was not on the flight.”
“In fact, when we reached the arrival luggage hall, it became apparent that only about a dozen suitcases had been loaded, and the carousel was empty,” the passenger added.
Several passengers expressed regret over the situation, insisting that the airline should have informed them before departure.
“If they had informed passengers, I, for one, would have chosen to take another flight as I had essential and perishable items in my luggage, including my medication. The pilot should have noticed that the aircraft weight was suspiciously light,” said a passenger.
Other passengers shared similar past experiences of enduring a two-week wait for their luggage and suitcases to be delivered to Accra after flying with British Airways.
Meanwhile, the airline has issued an apology to the affected passengers and has promised to rectify the situation.
“Due to operational constraints at London Heathrow, several bags were not loaded onto your flight. This may mean your bag may not be there when you land at Accra Airport. We're sorry for any inconvenience this may cause. We are doing our best to get your bag to you as soon as possible,” stated a BA representative.
