Celebrating the International day of the Boy child is one of the world’s recognized day that is rarely celebrated compared to the girl child empowerment in various countries in Africa and beyond but bridging the gap, the Sustainable Management Services under ECOM has impactfully organized an unforgettable Boy-Child Empowerment Summit in Assin Andoe (Assin South District) in the Central Region of Ghana, bringing together over 200 boys from Assin Andoe Cluster of Schools to educate them on Violence, Addiction and other activities under the theme “Strengthen boys to build Communities free of Violence and Addiction”.
Speaking to the Gender Specialist of the Sustainable Management Services, Mad. Deborah Antwi emphasized that, “it’s extremely sad to neglect our young boys to struggle through the ladder without any mentorship or empowerment projection as compared to the girl child” She stressed that, young boys go through a lot of challenges that is long overdue to be addressed by various stakeholders, government and NGO’s with an immediate effect.
In an exclusive interview with most students, they expressed their joy for such an awesome program organized to get such opportunity to share their problems and be mentored with incredible passion and further pleaded for more programs like this to curb most social vices they are addicted to.
The Headmistress of Assin Andoe D/A Basic School Madam Charity Bediako finally thanked the S.M.S team for such an amazing empowerment summit and pledged to form a boys club for it’s sustainability. She told the media about their greatest challenge being absenteeism, truancy, fraud crimes etc and further pleaded the government and other stakeholders to educate and empower the boy child for a brighter future of mother Ghana.
