Nana Ofori Ahenkan II, the chief of Bonzian in the Juaboso District of the Western North Region, has called on Ghanaians and political actors to embrace peace ahead of the 2024 Election.
He said peace was the only panacea for accelerated development and without it, there would be no development, and urged all to let their actions and inactions be geared towards the peace of the country.
Nana Ahenkan, who is also the Kontihene (Chief) of the Wiawso Traditional Council, made the call to climax this year’s Elluo festival, on the theme: “Creating a Peaceful Atmosphere for the 2024 Election before, during and after, the role of traditional leaders”.
Nana Ahenkan also entreated Ghanaians to take lessons from war-torn countries and ensure that peace prevailed before and after the December polls.
Professor Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang, the running mate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), who represented the former President Mr John Dramani Mahama, as the guest speaker, called for a transparent electoral process since that was the only way to ensure peace before, during and after the election.
She further appealed to Ghanaians to avoid intimidation and violence acts, especially on election day.
