The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has condemned the recent vandalism of three transformers in Bogoso by unidentified thieves, which has led to power outages in the affected communities.
Mr Emmanuel Justice Ofori, ECG’s General Manager for the Western Region, described the act as unacceptable, highlighting the inconvenience caused to customers and the financial burden on the company. He urged Assembly Members, opinion leaders, and the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity around ECG installations.
The District Manager for Bogoso, Mr Benjamin Dodoo, stated that Assembly Members of the affected communities reported the incident to ECG, and the matter has been referred to the police for investigation.
The vandalised transformers included a 50kVA and a 200kVA unit, which served the Community Water at Bepoh Bridge and some bungalows at Anlonkwanta. Though affected, a third 100kVA transformer at Samahu was not in the circuit.
ECG has reiterated its commitment to restoring power and called on the public to help safeguard electrical infrastructure for uninterrupted service.
