A five-month-old baby girl has been brutally murdered in Bawku after attackers snatched her from her mother and smashed her to the ground, leading to her tragic death.
The baby’s mother, who had gone out to trade, was reportedly tracked by the assailants, severely beaten, and had her child forcibly taken from her before the horrific act was carried out.
This latest killing adds to the escalating violence in Bawku and along the Bolgatanga-Tamale highway, bringing the death toll to 55 since the conflict flared up again in October 2024.
Despite intensified security operations in the area, armed assailants continue to launch deadly attacks, fueling fear among residents and travellers. Authorities have yet to make arrests in connection with the baby’s murder, as calls grow for urgent intervention to curb the rising bloodshed.
