The Ga Traditional Council has expressed its strong opposition to the recent Press Statement issued by the Ministry of Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs regarding the ban on drumming and noise-making in the Ga Traditional Area.
In a firm response, the Ga Traditional Council categorically stated that they find the Press statement to be unfortunate and unacceptable.
The council emphasized that at no point did they endorse the usage of microphones and Public Address Systems at reduced volume in church auditoriums or any other settings.
The Ga Traditional Council urges the general public to adhere to the earlier Press Statement issued by them, which upholds the ban on noise-making.
They highlight that this observance has been a longstanding tradition from ancient times, and it should continue to be upheld this year as well.
The council emphasizes that customary law is an integral part of Ghana's legal system and must be duly respected and observed.
