Stephen Richard Obeng, the Head Coach of Ghana's national Amputee Football team, the Black Challenge, has initiated preparations for the upcoming 2024 African Amputee Football Cup of Nations (AAFCON) in Cairo, Egypt. The defending champions are gearing up to defend their title at the tournament scheduled from April 19 to 28, 2024.
Coach Obeng has invited 18 players for a training camp in Accra, commencing on April 5, 2024. The team, consisting of both local and international players, aims to maintain its championship status.
The players, including eight professionals based in Turkey, have arrived in Ghana to join their local counterparts for the camp. Among them are three goalkeepers: Raymond Frimpong, Atsu Abor, and Razak Seidu, along with other talented players such as Emmanuel Allotey, Fuseini Iddi, and Richard Ekwam.
In addition to their training regime, the reigning champions plan to pay a courtesy visit to the Minister of Youth and Sports before the commencement of the camp.
The squad is determined to uphold their stellar performance, having clinched victory at the 2021 edition of the tournament and also securing the title of 2023 African Para Games Champions.
