Assin North By-election: Tension rises as NPP claims arrest of polling agents in strongholds

The General Secretary of the governing New Patriotic Party (), Justin Frimpong Koduah, has alleged that the party's agents at polling stations in the ongoing by-election are being arrested in its strongholds.

He expressed his concern over these arrests, questioning whether they were a deliberate action to rig the election.

Mr Frimpong Koduah stated, “Our agents have been arrested, three of our people have been arrested, and the sad thing is that all this tension is happening in the stronghold of the .”

He further raised the question of why issues were arising specifically in their strongholds, expressing uncertainty about the motives behind these arrests.

In a video, Mr Frimpong Koduah can be seen lodging a complaint with a police commander. NPP supporters present also voiced their discontent with the situation, emphasizing its unfairness.

In response, the Police Commander stated that their primary goal was to maintain law and order and that they had no intention of taking sides or deliberately intimidating anyone.
