The Ashanti regional police commander, DCOP Frank Abrokwah, has been transferred to the police headquarters in Accra following disturbances during the Council of State elections in the region.
DCOP Abrokwah led the police team at the election grounds when a group of individuals disrupted the process at the Ashanti Regional Coordinating Council in Kumasi. Sources indicate that the current commander of the Central West Police Region will take over his role.
Meanwhile, the Ghana Police Service has launched a manhunt for those responsible for the chaos. According to police sources, the group stormed the venue on Monday, causing disruptions that interfered with the electoral process. Authorities are reviewing all available footage to identify and apprehend the culprits.
The police have assured the public that all perpetrators will face justice and have encouraged anyone with relevant information to assist in the investigations.
