Investigative journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas, has expressed his disagreement with the pronouncements of Justice Eric Baah regarding the dismissal of his defamation suit against Member of Parliament for Assin North, Kennedy Agyepong.
In a Facebook video, Anas stated that he will be seeking an appeal on the judge's pronouncements on the case, arguing that the judge appeared to make a criminal pronouncement against him as if he was standing trial for a crime.
“Although the news about the dismissal of our defamation suit against the Member of Parliament was unexpected, I disagree with the judge's reason based on law and the facts,” he said.
Anas further expressed his commitment to serve in the interest of the country despite the risks involved in his line of work.
“When I started this line of work 22 years ago, I never assumed it would be an easy road. Yet it is the evidence in my work and the commitment to truth and justice that has always led and prevailed against all the forces that have worked to pull us down,” he stated.
Anas also noted that his team remains resolute in its mission to promote fairness, integrity, and courage in its investigations in the public interest, despite constant threats to their lives.
