Akufo-Addo urges Ghanaians to embrace the 13th African Games for future generations’ benefit

President Nana Addo Dankwa has emphasized the significance of the 13th for the benefit of future generations, urging Ghanaians to seize the opportunity presented by this event. He highlighted the diverse cultural heritage of Africa and the importance of celebrating the unique contributions of each participating nation.

Speaking at the opening ceremony held at the Legon Sports Stadium in , President Akufo-Addo praised the unifying power of sports in bringing together the continent. He encouraged athletes to strive for excellence, push their boundaries, and showcase Africa's abundant talents during the competition.

The President called for fair competition, emphasizing the values of integrity and sportsmanship among participating countries. He urged all stakeholders in the sports community to support Ghana in hosting a memorable event.

Ghana, having won the bid to host the games for the first time in 2018, is proud to welcome over 6,000 athletes from 53 countries participating in 29 different disciplines, including arm wrestling, basketball, , chess, football, volleyball, handball, athletics, table tennis, tennis, badminton, among others.
