The Minister of Health, Dr. Omane Boamah, has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to completing the long-delayed Afari Military Hospital project in the Ashanti Region, with operations set to commence in September this year.

Speaking after a visit to the hospital site last Friday and a subsequent meeting with Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Dr. Boamah stated that the project, which was initiated under former President John Dramani Mahama, had been expected to be completed by 2018. However, delays under the previous administration stalled its progress.

As part of efforts to fast-track completion, Dr Boamah met with representatives of Euroget De-Invest, the company responsible for constructing the facility, at the Ministry of Defence this week. The meeting focused on addressing financial, legal, and technical challenges that have hindered the project’s progress for over six years.

The government has directed Euroget to formally submit all outstanding issues by the close of tomorrow to allow for thorough scrutiny and cost-effective decision-making.

Dr. Boamah emphasized that under the Mahama-led administration, not only will the hospital be completed and operationalized, but measures will also be taken to ensure the protection of public funds in the process.
