IGP orders police withdrawal from Tamale-Bolgatanga highway over security threats

Unverified information cited by The Ghanaian Standard is that Ghana’s Inspector General of Police (IGP) Christian Tetteh Yohuno has ordered the withdrawal of police officers from the Tamale–Bolgatanga section of the N10 highway following intelligence reports of imminent attacks by armed groups.

The decision affects one of Ghana’s busiest transportation corridors and is linked to security threats associated with the ongoing Bawku conflict.

According to the alleged intelligence, the armed groups were planning attacks targeting security personnel operating along the stretch, prompting the directive as a precautionary measure.
