Police foil robbery attempt at Community 24,three suspects are gunned down

The Tema Regional Police Command has foiled an attempted robbery at Community 24 in the Adjei-Kojo District of the Ashaiman Division, resulting in the death of three suspected robbers.

The release was signed by ASP Dede Dzakpasu, Head of Public Affairs, Tema.The incident occurred on Sunday, December 21, 2025, at about 1:30 a.m., when the Ashaiman Divisional Police Intelligence Team received information about an ongoing robbery at a private residence in the area.

Acting swiftly on the intelligence, a police team was dispatched to the scene.

On arrival, the police encountered six young men wearing face masks and hoodies and armed with machetes, guns, and other offensive weapons.

The suspects reportedly opened fire on the police, who returned fire. During the exchange, three of the suspects were fatally wounded and later died, while the remaining three suspects, believed to have sustained gunshot wounds, escaped from the scene.

Exhibits retrieved by the police included three face masks, three machetes, and an unregistered Royal 125 motorbike. The bodies of the deceased suspects have been conveyed to the Police Hospital for preservation, identification, and autopsy.

Hospitals and health facilities within the locality have been alerted to inform the police through emergency lines should any male persons present with gunshot wounds.

The Tema Regional Police Command commended the operational team involved in the exercise and encouraged members of the public to continue providing timely information to support efforts to maintain peace and security.
