The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Minority Caucus in Parliament has strongly condemned the Tamale High Court‘s decision to annul the 2024 parliamentary election results in the Kpandai Constituency, describing the ruling as “unsupported by the facts presented in court.”
In a statement signed by Minority Leader Mr Alexander Kwamena Afenyo-Markin and issued to the Ghana News Agency, the Caucus argued that “the facts did not support the ruling,” maintaining that the election was transparent and the results reflected the will of the electorate.

The court had invalidated the election on the basis of clerical errors recorded in 41 polling stations.
This was despite testimony from the National Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate’s own witness, who acknowledged that the disputed votes amounted to only about 500.
Mr Mathew Nyindam, the NPP candidate at the time, won the election with 27,947 votes, defeating his NDC opponent, Mr Daniel Nsala Wakpal, who garnered 24,213 votes. Mr Nyindam was subsequently sworn in as the MP-elect for the constituency.
The Minority Caucus insisted that the judicial outcome did not align with the evidence, adding that it had filed both a notice of appeal and an application for a stay of execution.
“The election was conducted in a transparent manner. The results reflected the choice of the people,” Mr Afenyo-Markin stated.
The statement expressed confidence that the appellate process would ultimately reaffirm the democratic will of the people of Kpandai.
