The Volta Regional Police Command has successfully destroyed 600 fertiliser sacks of Indian hemp, weighing a total of 47,530kg and valued at approximately GH¢4.2 billion, following a court order issued after the conclusion of a criminal trial.
The destruction exercise took place on Monday, November 17, at around 2:30 pm. The seized drugs were exhibits from the 2022 case of The Republic versus Yao Kwadwo (aka Wallako) and two others.

Chief Inspector Francis Kwaru Gomado, Head of the Public Affairs Unit, stated that the Ho Circuit Court, presided over by His Honour Felix Datsumor Esq., authorised the disposal after the drugs had been tendered as evidence.
The burning of the 600 sacks was conducted under strict supervision and media presence at about 10:30 pm at the Kiefe dumping site in Ho.
Key officials overseeing the exercise included Mr Moses Dzanfi (Circuit Court Registrar), Mr Joseph Opusomah (State Attorney), Mr Daniel John Pekyi (Narcotics Control Commission), and Mr Emmanuel Mensah Gbekor (Environmental Protection Authority).
The Volta Regional Police Command expressed appreciation to all partners and stakeholders for their support in combating drug trafficking, emphasising the importance of collective efforts in the fight against illegal drugs.
