Adaklu DCE urges feuding factions to unite for community development at Dudengor festival

Mr Jerry Yao Ameko, Adaklu District Chief Executive (DCE), has appealed to the feuding factions in Adaklu Goefe to “bury the hatchet” and allow peace to prevail, emphasising that no community can thrive amid chaos and disunity. “Disunity is a very dangerous weapon that destroys and retards the progress of communities,” he stated.

The appeal was made during the annual Dudengor festival of Chiefs and people of Adaklu Goefe, which seeks to foster unity and raise funds for community development. Mr Ameko stressed that the festival’s purpose would be undermined if residents fail to unite, adding that prosperity would elude a divided community.

He announced plans to organise the Adaklu District Economic Forum in consultation with stakeholders, aimed at attracting industry players, planning developmental needs, and driving economic transformation in the district. The DCE, also the Dean of Volta Region MMDCEs, urged landowners to release land for upcoming projects and highlighted efforts to bring investors to the area.

Expressing concern about declining educational standards in the district, particularly reflected in the last Basic Education Certificate Examination results, Mr Ameko called for broader stakeholder engagement to address the issue, noting that “the only mineral deposit in Adaklu is its human resource, which should be mined and refined for the national and international market.”

He assured residents that they would benefit under the government’s Big Push agenda, with most district roads included in the programme, and pledged to help complete the community centre building in collaboration with Mr Governs Kwame Agbodza, Minister of Roads and Highways and Member of Parliament for Adaklu.

Mr Ameko also encouraged residents to take responsibility for maintaining cleanliness in their surroundings. Togbe Dzegblade IV, Chief of Adaklu Kodzobi, pledged to assist in finding a lasting solution to the ongoing feud, which he said was impeding the community’s progress.
