List of Corporate Governance Certification Vendors in Ghana

Who are the BoG authorised corporate governance certification vendors in Ghana?

According to the BoG’s Corporate Governance Directive, 2018 (and subsequent related guidelines), a Corporate Governance Certification Vendor is an institution that has been granted accreditation by the Bank of Ghana to offer training and certification on Corporate Governance for Directors of Banks and Specialised Deposit-Taking Institutions (SDIs).

In essence, these vendors are BoG-recognised training providers authorised to:

1. Offer the mandatory Corporate Governance Programme that all directors of regulated financial institutions must participate in.
2. Issue a formal certification to directors, which the regulated institution must disclose in its annual financial statements as proof that the directors are aware of their governance responsibilities, as required by the Directive.

The Directive initially designated the National Banking College (NBC) but also included the crucial phrase, “or any other institution recognised by the Bank of Ghana,” allowing the BoG to accredit other reputable training and professional bodies.
