Step down for those who believe in Mahama’s vision – NPP’s Kofi Tonto tells Akufo-Addo-era CEOs

A member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) communications team, Kofi Tonto, has called on all Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) appointed under former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to resign immediately.

Tonto argues that individuals who do not align with President John Dramani Mahama‘s policies should step aside for those who support his vision.

“You cannot campaign against the vision and ideas of Mahama and expect to be maintained as a CEO. Step down for those who believe in his ideas and vision. It’s that simple!” he wrote in a Facebook post on Thursday, February 6.

SIC MD locks office amid leadership change

Tonto’s statement follows a controversy at SIC Insurance PLC, where outgoing Managing Director (MD) Hollistar Duah-Yentumi has challenged her removal from office. She has filed an injunction against the company and reportedly locked the MD’s office, preventing her successor, James Agyenim-Boateng, from assuming his role.

Speaking on Citi FM’s Eyewitness News on February 5, Agyenim-Boateng disclosed that Duah-Yentumi had refused to attend a management meeting held to introduce him as the new MD.

“It has become apparent that the real difficulty regarding why I have not been able to access the office is because my predecessor has actually locked up the office and bolted with the keys. It is strange,” Agyenim-Boateng stated.

The delay in the transition has sparked concerns among SIC staff about disruptions to the company’s operations. With mounting pressure for a smooth handover, the controversy highlights the broader challenges facing leadership changes within state institutions.
