Grenada’s Prime Minister Dickon Mitchell Arrives in Ghana for Two-Day Official Visit

Prime Minister Dickon Amiss Thomas Mitchell of Grenada arrived in Accra on Thursday evening for a two-day official visit aimed at strengthening bilateral relations between Ghana and the Caribbean island nation.

He was received at the Kotoka International Airport by Mr Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, Minister of Health, and Madam Ablah Dzifa Gomashie, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts.

A statement from the Presidency announced that President John Dramani Mahama would host the visiting Prime Minister for bilateral talks on Friday morning, followed by a State luncheon in his honour.

The Prime Minister is accompanied by Mr Teddy St. Louis, Grenada’s Chief of Staff, and Mr Joseph Andall, Minister for Foreign Affairs, Trade and Export Development, along with other senior government officials.

Shortly after his arrival, the Grenadian delegation joined Ghanaian counterparts for the first Ghana–Grenada Political Consultation Meeting at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, marking a new chapter in Africa–Caribbean cooperation.

During his visit, Prime Minister Mitchell is also expected to visit the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park before departing Ghana on Friday, October 17.

Grenada, a volcanic Caribbean island with St. George’s as its capital, is renowned for its lush rainforests, fertile lands, beaches, and diving sites, which form the backbone of its vibrant tourism-driven economy.

In 2024, Ghana and Grenada formalised diplomatic ties through agreements on visa waivers and cooperation in culture, trade, and education, cementing a growing Afro-Caribbean partnership built on shared heritage and mutual development goals.
