Asogli chiefs bless NDC Chairman Johnson Asiedu Nketia, wish him success and elevation in national service

Ho (V/R), Chiefs of the Asogli State have offered blessings and words of encouragement to Mr Johnson Asiedu Nketia, National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), wishing him continued success and ascension to the highest level in his public service and political journey.

The blessings were pronounced by Togbe Adzie Lakle Howusu XII, Awafiaga of Asogli State, during Mr Nketia’s visit to the Asogli Palace in Ho on Wednesday as part of his nationwide “Thank You Tour” following the NDC’s victory in the 2024 general elections.

Togbe Howusu commended Mr Nketia for his leadership and dedication to the governing NDC, noting that his visit to express gratitude reflected humility and respect for traditional authority.

“May the gods of our land and the Almighty God above give you strength, good health and protection so that you succeed in all that you do,” Togbe Howusu said. “We are so grateful that, as a mark of tradition, you didn’t come empty-handed. We’ll hold a libation and inform our forefathers that you are still the Chairman of the great party. Wherever you want to go, may you ascend to the highest pinnacle.”

Mr Nketia expressed profound appreciation to the chiefs and people of the Asogli State for their unwavering support to the NDC during the 2024 polls, describing the region’s electoral performance as “a massive endorsement” of the party’s vision.

He stressed the importance of maintaining direct engagement between leadership and citizens, recalling the regular outreach programmes initiated under late former President Jerry John Rawlings, which enabled government officials to explain policies, report progress, and gather public feedback.

“These types of meetings constitute the lifeblood of every organisation,” he said. “During President Rawlings’ time, every six months, we deployed all government appointees, ministers and chief executives to reach out to constituencies across the country. That approach helped us carry the public along, and for some time now, we’ve missed that opportunity.”

Mr Nketia called for the revival of such outreach initiatives to strengthen grassroots participation and ensure inclusive governance, reaffirming his commitment to remain an active and accessible leader.

Mr James Gunu, Volta Regional Minister, described the NDC Chairman’s visit to Ho and other constituencies as timely and reflective of gratitude. He said the gesture aligned with the party’s campaign call for collective effort towards victory, emphasising that “it is only right to return and thank the people.”

Citing Luke 17:11 to 19, Mr Gunu underscored the biblical virtue of thankfulness, assuring the electorate that the NDC would not wait until another election year to reconnect with the people, but would continue to engage them consistently in governance and development efforts.
