Captain One Golf Society launches Takoradi Kids Project to train vulnerable children in golf

The Captain One Golf Society, in partnership with the Takoradi Sports Club, has launched the Takoradi Kids Project, an initiative aimed at introducing vulnerable children to the game of golf and nurturing future talents.

The project, which will initially train children from the Egyam Children Care Home, will be led by resident professional golfers of the club. It forms part of the broader Captain One Golf Kids Project, which seeks to make golf accessible to children across every golf club in the country.

Speaking at the mini launch, Mr. Solomon Harvey, Competitions Secretary of the Captain One Golf Society, stressed the importance of raising a new pool of talents to secure the future of the sport. He encouraged the children to take their training seriously and highlighted golf’s benefits, including punctuality, discipline, and health gains. He also revealed plans to expand the project nationwide and integrate children into existing tournaments.

In a speech delivered on his behalf, the President and Founder of the Society, Pius Ayeh Appiah, said Captain One has always envisioned bringing golf to all, especially children, to dispel the perception that the sport is reserved for the elite. He noted that the Kids Project provides an opportunity for young people from diverse backgrounds to play golf, grow into professionals, and gain hope for the future. Mr. Appiah further appealed to corporate bodies, civil society groups, and individuals to support the initiative.
