Mr Seth Osei Acheampong, President of World Peace Volunteers, has stressed the importance of supporting peace education programmes to safeguard students and teachers in conflict-prone areas. He said such initiatives would help ensure that children, especially girls and boys, have access to quality education that incorporates lessons on conflict prevention and resolution.
In a statement marking this year’s International Day of Peace on September 21, Mr Acheampong said the day provides an opportunity for societies to reflect and find meaningful solutions to end cycles of violence and conflict. He emphasised that peacebuilding requires well-developed and tested mechanisms to ensure sustainable results.

He urged Ghanaians to reflect on the consequences of violence and recommit to promoting peace in their communities. According to him, “peace is life itself, because life without peace is hardly worth living.”
Mr Acheampong further encouraged all to teach children the values of tolerance, respect, and mutual understanding. He stressed that peace is never accidental but the outcome of deliberate, consistent efforts by people working together for the common good.
