UG Governing Council promotes Dzidzienyo to Associate Professor in Plant Biotechnology

Accra, Sept. 17 – The Governing Council of the University of Ghana (UG) has elevated Dr. Daniel K. Dzidzienyo, Acting Director of the West Africa Centre for Crop Improvement (WACCI), to the rank of Associate Professor in Plant Biotechnology.

In a statement, Prof. Dzidzienyo expressed delight at the recognition, describing it as a milestone in his academic journey. He credited his success to divine grace, the guidance of mentors—particularly Prof. Eric Danquah—colleagues, students, and the unwavering support of his family.

“This promotion reminds me that the journey of academic and research excellence is never walked alone,” he said. Prof. Dzidzienyo reaffirmed his commitment to advancing knowledge, innovation, and capacity building in Plant Biotechnology for Ghana, Africa, and beyond.

He also encouraged students and early-career researchers to remain focused and resilient, assuring them that “their time will surely come.”
