Akatsi South Municipal Assembly begins ten-day consultation on Fee Fixing Resolution 2026

The Akatsi South Municipal Assembly in the Volta Region has launched a ten-day stakeholder consultation on its Fee Fixing Resolution (FFR) for 2026, the reference document for all charges, fees, and rates imposed by the Assembly.

Mr. Anthony-Solo Adotevi, Chairman of the Finance and Administration Sub-Committee, said the sessions aimed to foster consensus and public participation in budget and revenue processes. “Our budget preparation and financial management processes are becoming more engaging and consensus-oriented. This calls for the involvement of as many people as possible,” he noted.

Municipal Chief Executive Daniel Dagba, who formally opened the sessions, emphasised the Assembly’s commitment to public input, noting that the exercise aligns with President Mahama’s Reset Agenda, which encourages citizen engagement in development initiatives. He also highlighted recent efforts in revenue mobilisation and surveillance of commercial activities at Akatsi Main Market, which had received commendation.

Mr. Bismark Kofi Kuyole, Municipal Budget Analyst, explained that the workshop would help participants understand how revenue is spent on programmes and projects, while also discussing issues affecting both business operations and Assembly operations.

Participants include service/filling stations, financial institutions, tourism facility operators, pharmaceutical companies, artisans, transport unions, market women, and lotto operators.

The Assembly noted that revenue collection is restricted to items listed in the FFR. Once approved by the General Assembly, the FFR is published in the national gazette and becomes a bylaw.
