The Northern Regional Command of the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) has intercepted and repatriated 55 foreign nationals in Tamale following intelligence-led operations.

In a statement signed by ACI Michael Amoako-Atta, Head of Public Affairs at GIS, the Service said the individuals were victims of alleged fraudulent schemes and were without proper immigration documentation.

The swoop followed a directive by Comptroller-General of Immigration, Mr Samuel Basintale Amadu, for all Regional and Border Commands to intensify crackdowns on cyber fraud and related immigration infractions.

According to the statement, 38 Burkinabes were rescued in one suburb of Tamale after being linked to an alleged NEOLIFE network marketing scheme. None had valid travel documents. A separate operation in another suburb uncovered 17 more Burkinabes, allegedly involved in QNET, who were also undocumented.

The GIS reaffirmed its commitment to protecting Ghana’s borders while ensuring the humane and lawful treatment of foreign nationals.
