Kafui Danku-Pitcher, CEO & Executive Secretary of the National Film Authority

Kafui Danku-Pitcher, widely known as Kafui Danku, has been appointed as the CEO and Executive Secretary of the National Film Authority (NFA). She brings extensive experience in the creative industry, governance, and entrepreneurship to the role, with a strong commitment to advancing Ghana’s film sector.

Danku-Pitcher holds a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in English and Classics from the University of Cape Coast and is currently pursuing an Executive Master of Business Administration (EMBA) at the University of Ghana. Her expertise spans leadership, governance, digital literacy, communication, innovation, and strategic partnerships aimed at driving economic growth and cultural preservation.

A filmmaker since 2008, Danku-Pitcher has been the executive producer at ABC Pictures Limited since 2013. She has also worked with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) as a Repatriation Assistant, where she conducted socio-economic surveys, analyzed data, and implemented policies to support refugees. Her work with the UNHCR highlights her ability to develop and monitor strategic solutions.

Beyond filmmaking, she is an activist and Goodwill Ambassador, leading initiatives such as ‘Silence Is Not Golden,’ which encourages women to speak out. She has also campaigned against child marriage and supported children with Kwashiorkor. Her dedication to social causes has earned her recognition from the Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI) for her contributions to women’s roles in politics, peace, security, and economic institutions.

Danku-Pitcher’s efforts in the creative sector have been widely acknowledged. She was named Tourism Personality of the Year in 2024 for her contributions to promoting Ghana’s tourism industry. Additionally, she was recognized as the Most Outstanding Woman Entrepreneur’s Rising for her work in empowering women in business. Through her ‘Dream Achievers Project,’ she supports startup businesses, further demonstrating her commitment to economic development.

She has also been invited to key global events, including the UN Summit of the Future 2024 and the Women Empowerment Summit, where she continues to advocate for industry growth and gender empowerment.

As CEO and Executive Secretary of the NFA, Danku-Pitcher aims to create an enabling environment for Ghana’s creative arts industry, strengthen industry policies, and enhance the sector’s contribution to the country’s GDP. Her leadership is expected to drive strategic initiatives that will position Ghana’s film industry for sustainable growth and global recognition.
