The Ghana Education Service (GES) continues to conduct unannounced visits to schools across the country to welcome fresh students and engage with students, parents and staff.
Professor Smile Gavua Dzisi, Deputy Director-General (Management Services), representing the Director-General, recently visited some schools, where she offered support and interacted with newly admitted students to understand how they were adjusting to their new learning communities.

She encouraged the students to study hard, remain disciplined and make their parents proud.
Prof. Dzisi also engaged staff, particularly Heads of schools, and reiterated Management’s directive that no student should be turned away because of trunks and chop boxes.
She stressed that students must not be denied their right to education because of such items.
She further warned that any Head reported to Management for violating the directive would face the appropriate sanctions.
The GES said the unannounced visits will continue throughout the academic year as part of efforts to obtain real-time, first-hand information from schools.
The visits are intended to help the Service identify challenges promptly, make informed decisions and take appropriate action.
Through the engagements, Management is also able to assess how its policies and directives are being implemented at the school level, hear concerns directly from staff and students, and provide guidance where necessary.
The Ghana Education Service said it will continue working to ensure that every student is welcomed into a safe, supportive and conducive learning environment, and that no administrative practice becomes a barrier to accessing education.
