A delegation from the Suma Ahenkoro Traditional Council, led by Nana Kwame Kwarfo II, has paid a courtesy call on the Rt. Hon. Speaker of Parliament, Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, at Parliament House to formally inform him of the demise of His Excellency Ambassador Nana Asum Ahinsah.
The late Ambassador was a distinguished son of the Suma Traditional Area who served the nation in various capacities, including as a former Member of Parliament for the Jaman North Constituency, Ghana’s Ambassador to Equatorial Guinea and an educationist.

The delegation’s visit, in accordance with Ghanaian tradition and custom, was to officially notify the Speaker and the House of the passing of their illustrious son and discuss arrangements for his final funeral rites.
In his response, the Rt. Hon. Speaker expressed his profound sorrow at the news of Ambassador Ahinsah’s passing, describing him as a “true patriot and a pillar of our nation’s democratic and diplomatic history.”
He extended condolences on behalf of the Parliament of Ghana to the Suma Ahenkoro Traditional Council, the bereaved family and the people of Jaman North.
The Speaker said Ambassador Ahinsah served the nation as an educationist, a Member of Parliament and as Ghana’s Ambassador to Equatorial Guinea, adding that his legacy of selfless service would be remembered and cherished.
The funeral arrangements for the late Ambassador have been announced from Wednesday, 28th to Saturday, 30th October 2026.
The final rites and burial will take place in his hometown in the Jaman North District of the Bono Region.
Parliament, together with the Suma Traditional Council and the bereaved family, has invited Ghanaians to join in celebrating the life of the late statesman.
