The Ghana Police Service has arrested two men over separate videos containing comments about Prophet Mohammed that the Police described as inciteful or offensive.
The suspects are 35-year-old Imam Masud Abdullah and Daniel Junior Yaw Adjei, also known as Apostle Daniel JY Adjei.

Masud Abdullah was arrested over a video of a sermon he allegedly delivered at a mosque in Ntensere in the Atwima Nwabiagya North District of the Ashanti Region.
In the video, he is reported to have advocated violence against people who speak ill of or insult Prophet Mohammed, including suggesting that killing such a person would not be wrong and could earn the perpetrator a place in paradise.
Daniel Junior Yaw Adjei was arrested by the Police Cyber Vetting and Enforcement Team over a separate video in which he allegedly made derogatory and offensive remarks about Prophet Mohammed.
The Police, working with the National Signals Bureau, said investigations are ongoing, and the two suspects will be processed according to due process of law.
The Service reminded the public that freedom of religion and freedom of expression must not be used to justify inciting violence or encouraging people to harm others.
The National Chief Imam’s Office, through its spokesperson, Sheikh Aremeyaw Shaibu, had earlier condemned the Imam’s remarks and called for his arrest.
On August 13, 2026, the Police also launched a manhunt for a man seen in a viral video assaulting the handcuffed Daniel Junior Yaw Adjei while he was in custody.
In the video, the man approaches the restrained pastor from behind, slaps him and walks away.
The Police condemned the assault and said efforts are underway to identify and arrest the perpetrator to face court.
A separate video also showed a Muslim cleric confronting the handcuffed pastor at the Police headquarters in Accra and questioning whether he would have made the same comments in a predominantly Muslim area, while stressing the need for religious tolerance.
The cases remain under investigation, and both suspects are entitled to due process.
