Financial Afrik, a prominent business magazine, has once again acknowledged Dr. George Agyekum Donkor, the President and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Bank for Investment and Development (EBID), as one of the 100 personalities transforming Africa.

The annual rankings, now in their ninth year, recognize individuals for their notable achievements and positive contributions to Africa's .

Dr. Donkor, who was previously recognized as the “Development Banker” of the Year in December 2022, has now been honored as an “Integrator” in 2023.

This recognition reflects his ongoing efforts to position the sub-region for growth and his dedication to enhancing regional integration for sustainable development.

Under Dr. Donkor's leadership, EBID has achieved significant milestones, including the upgrading of the Bank's credit rating by Moody's and , an improvement in the quality of the Bank's portfolio, and the establishment of a more robust governance structure.

Notably, the Bank's interventions have seen a total deployment of USD 3.8 Billion for various projects across the sub-region.

Guided by an ambitious strategy for 2021-2025, EBID continues to grow under Dr. Donkor's leadership, with expectations of even more significant achievements in the future.

As the development finance institution of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), EBID plays a crucial role in financing developmental projects and programs across the region, covering diverse sectors such as infrastructure, rural development, industry, and social services.

EBID's interventions include long, medium, and short-term loans, equity participation, lines of credit, refinancing, financial engineering operations, and related services, contributing to the overall of the ECOWAS member states.
