The Management Committee of the Black Stars has called on Ghanaians to rally behind the national team as it prepares to face Nigeria in the first leg of the 2022 FIFA World Cup playoff.
Speaking in Kumasi, Committee Chairman and Ghana Football Association (GFA) Vice-President, Mark Addo, urged Ghanaians to put aside their differences and support the team as they seek qualification for the Qatar World Cup.

He expressed confidence in the 27-man squad selected for the crucial encounter, saying the players have the quality to overcome their West African rivals with the backing of the nation.
The Black Stars arrived in Kumasi to begin preparations for the match, scheduled for March 25 at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium. The venue is regarded as a lucky ground for Ghana, having played a key role in the country’s qualification for the 2006, 2010 and 2014 FIFA World Cups.
The squad announcement has generated mixed reactions among football fans, with debates over the players selected.
Ghana is hoping to secure victory over Nigeria and restore confidence following recent disappointments, including failure to qualify for the 2018 FIFA World Cup and early exits from the 2019 and 2021 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournaments.
The squad includes Thomas Partey, Mohammed Kudus, Jordan Ayew, Daniel Amartey, Alexander Djiku, Joseph Wollacott and Felix Afena-Gyan among other players expected to lead Ghana’s quest for a place at the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
