The Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre (KAIPTC) is set to host its 2022 Stakeholder Dialogue Series in Senegal and The Gambia as part of efforts to strengthen peace and security partnerships in West Africa.
The event will take place in Dakar, Senegal, on March 22, and Banjul, The Gambia, on April 5, with support from the German Development Agency (GIZ).

The dialogue, organised in collaboration with the West Africa Network for Peacebuilding (WANEP), will focus on the theme: “Contributing to the Implementation of ECOWAS Conflict Prevention Framework: Promoting Partnerships with Civil Society Organisations on Peace and Security in West Africa.”
The forum aims to bring together civil society organisations, government agencies, ECOWAS representatives, development partners and other stakeholders to discuss strategies for improving conflict prevention and peacebuilding efforts across the region.
According to KAIPTC, the dialogue forms part of its five-year strategic plan to strengthen collaboration with civil society organisations, think tanks and the private sector to promote policy discussions and enhance peace and security in Africa.
About 40 participants are expected to attend each session, with discussions focused on developing practical approaches to support the implementation of the ECOWAS Conflict Prevention Framework (ECPF).
KAIPTC and WANEP have maintained a long-standing partnership aimed at advancing peace and security initiatives in West Africa. Both organisations have worked with ECOWAS to strengthen conflict prevention, early warning systems and community resilience.
The Stakeholder Dialogue Series was introduced by KAIPTC in 2021 as a platform to engage partners and stakeholders on key issues affecting the peace and security landscape.
The 2022 edition is expected to provide recommendations on improving cooperation among peacebuilding actors and creating stronger networks to address security challenges in the region.
KAIPTC, established by the Ghana Armed Forces in 1998 and commissioned in 2004, serves as an ECOWAS-mandated centre of excellence for peacekeeping training, education and research. WANEP, launched in 1998, is a regional civil society organisation focused on promoting peace and security across West Africa.
