Former President John Agyekum Kufuor has commended the Melcom Group of Companies for its continued investment in Ghana, describing the company’s expansion strategy as a positive contribution to national economic growth and employment creation.
Mr Kufuor made the remarks when a management delegation from Melcom paid a courtesy call on him at his residence in Peduase in the Eastern Region.

He praised the retail giant for pursuing productive business practices and expanding its operations across the country, saying the company’s rapid and well-coordinated growth reflected its commitment to the Ghanaian market.
The former President said Melcom’s continued investment was giving practical meaning to its slogan, “Melcom: Where Ghana Shops.”
Mr Kufuor also commended the Melcom Care Foundation for its consistent support to vulnerable individuals, communities and institutions through various corporate social responsibility initiatives.
Speaking on behalf of the company, Melcom Group Director of Communications, Mr Godwin Avenorgbo, conveyed the company’s goodwill to the former President and wished him good health and prosperity.
Mr Avenorgbo said Melcom’s ongoing expansion, including the introduction of new business lines such as Pizza Hut and Giordano Clothing, as well as the opening of additional Melcom outlets, would create more employment opportunities for Ghanaian youth.
He added that the company had developed resilient business practices aimed at maintaining its reputation as a responsible corporate citizen while contributing to Ghana’s socio-economic development.
