Ghana has taken a major step towards cleaner industrial transportation with the launch of its first fully electric heavy-duty tipper truck, as Big Aidoo Construction Limited placed an inaugural order for 10 units.
The vehicle, introduced by Zonda Tec Ghana in partnership with SINOTRUK, is designed to provide construction and mining companies with a zero-emission alternative to conventional diesel-powered tipper trucks.

Marketing Director of Zonda Tec Ghana, Jelly Bai, said the electric trucks will help contractors reduce fuel and maintenance costs while supporting Ghana’s environmental sustainability goals.
“Unlike diesel trucks, electric vehicles do not require routine engine servicing, making them more cost-effective while contributing to a cleaner and more sustainable environment,” she said.
According to SINOTRUK, the V7-X Electric Tipper is powered by a 340-kilowatt electric motor, producing about 462 horsepower, and is equipped with a 400-kilowatt-hour battery capable of travelling between 170 and 180 kilometres on a full load.
Sales Manager at the SINOTRUK Ghana Office, Tong Changxu, said the truck delivers performance comparable to conventional diesel-powered tipper trucks while significantly lowering operating costs.
The launch also secured its first major commercial customer, with Big Aidoo Construction Limited purchasing 10 electric tipper trucks.
Personal Assistant to the company’s Chief Executive Officer, Wisdom Hedidor, said the investment reflects the company’s confidence in the new technology despite its introduction to the Ghanaian market for the first time.
