The Ghana Police Service in the Ashanti Region has arrested a young man, identified as Ebenezer Frimpong, for allegedly driving off with a police armoured vehicle at Nkawie Market.

Police patrol teams quickly responded, initiating a pursuit that led to the suspect’s interception. He was eventually apprehended by a SWAT team at Mim, near Abuakwa in Kumasi.

The stolen armoured vehicle has since been retrieved and secured by the authorities. The suspect remains in police custody and is currently assisting with ongoing investigations.

The incident has raised concerns about operational vigilance and vehicle security protocols, particularly regarding the handling of official security equipment in public spaces. The Ghana Police Service is expected to review the circumstances surrounding the case as part of its internal procedures.
