Mahama nominates Fiscal Council members under amended public financial law

The Presidency of the Republic of Ghana has announced the nomination of members of the Fiscal Council.

Pursuant to section 11D of the Public Financial Management Act, 2016 (Act 921), as amended by the Public Financial Management (Amendment) Act, 2025 (Act 1136), President John Dramani Mahama has nominated the following persons for appointment to the Fiscal Council:

Dr. Emmanuel Oteng Kumah (Chairperson), Prof. Patrick Opoku Asuming (representative from academia), Leslie Dwight Mensah (representative from a research think tank), J. Kweku Bedu-Addo (former public policy expert from the Ministry responsible for Finance), and Dr. Henry Akpenamawu Kofi Wampah (former public policy expert from the Bank of Ghana).

The Fiscal Council is expected to strengthen financial oversight, fiscal prudence and support sound decision-making in public financial management.

The statement was signed by the Spokesperson to the President and Minister for Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu.
