The suspects reportedly opened fire on the team, mistaking them for targets. Police returned fire, resulting in one suspect being shot dead, while the others, including the leader, escaped.
Items retrieved from the scene include a pump-action gun loaded with four live cartridges, two spent cartridges, and three assorted keypad mobile phones. Two additional live cartridges were found in the deceased suspect’s pocket, along with a talisman tied around his waist.
The body has been deposited at the Atebubu Government Hospital morgue for preservation and autopsy. Police say efforts are ongoing to arrest the remaining suspects.
