Police arrest suspect over alleged assault in Cape Coast

The Ghana Police Service has arrested a 40-year-old man, Samuel Bills Acquah, for allegedly assaulting a woman in Cape Coast following a viral video that drew public attention.

According to a statement from the Central Regional Police Command, the incident was reported on March 27 at about 9:30 p.m. The suspect is alleged to have assaulted a 30-year-old woman, with whom he shares a child, at Bakano, a suburb of Cape Coast.

Police say officers responded promptly to the report, proceeded to the scene, and effected the arrest of the suspect. He is currently in custody assisting with ongoing investigations.

Authorities have confirmed that Samuel Bills Acquah is expected to be arraigned before court on March 30, 2026, to face prosecution.

The case has sparked renewed concern over domestic violence, with many calling for stronger enforcement of laws and increased awareness to protect victims.

Police have assured the public of their commitment to ensuring justice while urging individuals to report incidents of abuse and seek help through appropriate channels.
