Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has engaged in high-level bilateral talks at the United States Department of State as part of efforts to deepen relations between Ghana and the United States.
During the visit, the Foreign Affairs Minister was hosted by Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs, Allison Hooker, and Senior Bureau Official for African Affairs, Nick Checker.

The discussions covered a broad range of areas including trade relations, business opportunities, social sector agreements, and security cooperation.
A key focus of the meeting was strengthening economic ties, with both sides exploring new opportunities for businesses in Ghana and the United States.
The talks also touched on major bilateral initiatives such as the African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA) and the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) programmes, as well as preparations ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Ablakwa commended the U.S. government for recent improvements in visa processing at its embassy in Accra, noting that new systems have significantly reduced waiting times and cleared application backlogs for Ghanaian applicants.
Both countries acknowledged the progress made in their longstanding partnership and expressed commitment to expanding cooperation into new areas of mutual interest.
The engagement marks another step in reinforcing diplomatic and economic relations between Ghana and the United States, with both sides aiming to build a more impactful and forward-looking partnership.
