Cape Coast, 24 February 2026 ,Six students from Aggrey Memorial Senior High School have been arrested following a violent attack on a final-year student of Adisadel College during the inter-colleges sports festival at Cape Coast Stadium.

The incident occurred on Friday, 20 February 2026, when Rexford Owusu-Ansah and two friends were leaving the stadium. According to reports, the Aggrey Memorial students confronted the group, asking if they were from Adisadel College, before launching a brutal assault on Rexford.

While his two friends escaped, Rexford was overpowered, kicked to the ground, and beaten severely.

During the attack, the suspects allegedly stole the victim’s iPhone 17 Pro Max, GH¢1,400 in cash, and his shoes.

Rexford was first treated at the stadium clinic and later referred to the Cape Coast Regional Hospital, where he was discharged on Sunday, 22 February 2026.

A medical examination revealed a fractured bone around his right eye, leaving him unable to open the eye and at risk of permanent damage.

The suspects, all juveniles, were brought to the Kotokuraba Police Station later that evening and are currently in custody assisting with investigations. Witnesses have confirmed their ability to identify the attackers.

The Central Regional Police Command has condemned the violence and assured the public that the students will face the full rigors of the law. Authorities are urging schools and students to avoid acts of violence and to resolve conflicts peacefully.

The case highlights ongoing concerns about school-related violence in the region and the need for proactive measures to ensure the safety of students during public events.
