We are not looking for war but fairness – NDC’s Ewurabena Aubynn vows to fight for Ablekuma North seat

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate for Ablekuma North, Ewurabena Aubynn, has vowed to take all necessary steps to secure her seat in Parliament, insisting that she fairly won the 2024 parliamentary elections. She accused the Electoral Commission (EC) of colluding with the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to manipulate results using fabricated pink sheets.

Speaking at a vigil organized by NDC supporters on February 9, 2025, Aubynn rejected the proposed electronic collation of results and criticized the delay in declaring the final outcome. “Being silent about some things doesn’t mean you are a coward. If, as an elderly person, you have decided to fight, then I am ready to fight this battle as well,” she stated.

The vigil, held at the forecourt of the Kwashieman Chiefs Palace, saw supporters dressed in black as they protested against the electoral process. Their demonstration followed the suspension of the collation process on January 17, 2025, after alleged acts of vandalism at the Greater Accra Regional Office of the EC. Reports indicate that over 40 individuals stormed the collation centre, disrupting proceedings and damaging property.

Despite the tensions, the EC has reaffirmed its independence and commitment to due process, stating that proper electoral procedures will be followed before declaring the final results.
