Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, Running Mate to the National Democratic Congress () Flagbearer for the 2024 elections, has emphasized the importance of the party’s policy in addressing ‘s economic challenges and creating jobs for the youth. Speaking to members of the NDC Professionals Forum at the , painted a dire picture of the country’s current economic state.

“We don’t have money, our currency is heading in the wrong direction, and we can’t pay our debt. We are in a crisis worse than we imagined,” she stated, highlighting the urgency of the situation. She described Ghana as being “broke” and in need of immediate solutions.

Prof. Opoku-Agyemang is currently on a three-day campaign tour in the , where she has been advocating for the NDC’s economic strategies, including the 24-Hour Economy policy and the National Apprenticeship program, as quick solutions to the high unemployment rate. She noted that unemployment was a significant concern for the NDC Flagbearer, , and that it was driving the party’s commitment to implementing that would create decent jobs for Ghanaians.

Addressing criticism from some economists who have questioned the feasibility of the 24-Hour Economy policy, Prof. Opoku-Agyemang responded that these critics are now ironically claiming that the current government is already implementing similar strategies. She called on the New Patriotic Party () to engage in constructive political discourse by offering solutions to alleviate the economic hardships faced by Ghanaians.

Prof. Opoku-Agyemang urged voters to support John Dramani Mahama in the December 7 general , emphasizing that his leadership would bring the promised job creation and economic relief needed by the country’s youth.
