Takoradi, Ghana – The limited voter registration exercise in the Takoradi Sub-Metro District has resulted in the successful registration of 209 voters within the first three days, according to Electoral Commission (EC) officials.
The exercise commenced on Tuesday, September 12, with 76 individuals registered on the first day, followed by 103 on the second day. On the third day, 30 more people were registered as of 12:00 PM when the Ghana News Agency (GNA) visited the registration centre.
Additional individuals waiting for registration were observed in a queue.
Mr. Prince Acheampong, the Takoradi Sub-Metro District Electoral Officer, reported that despite some initial technical challenges, the registration process has been progressing steadily. He assured that officials are actively addressing any underlying issues to expedite the registration process.
Mr. Acheampong noted that the registration centre had maintained a peaceful atmosphere, unlike the first day when there were disputes between the two main political parties regarding age-related concerns. Since then, there have been no such issues, ensuring a smoother operation of the exercise.
