NHIS Mobile app surpasses 50,000 downloads in first year, demonstrating public interest: Ghana News

The Scheme (NHIS) mobile application has achieved over 50,000 downloads within its first year, according to the Northern Regional Office of the Authority (NHIA).

Mr. Isaac Gideon Akonde, the Claims Processing Centre Director of the Northern Regional NHIA, highlighted the significant milestone during activities marking the NHIS's 20th-anniversary celebration.

Speaking after a float organized by the NHIS in , Mr. Akonde expressed satisfaction with the public interest in the application and the services it provides.

The float aimed to engage residents in and educate them on downloading and using the “MYNHIS” application, available on Google and Apple play stores.

The NHIA introduced the mobile application to bring NHIS services closer to subscribers, providing easy access to essential information about the scheme.

Mr. Akonde emphasized that the application outlines covered services and drugs, preventing clients from being misled at healthcare facilities.

“People are disadvantaged at hospitals because they do not know what they are entitled to; however, this App has drug and service lists to prevent such cases,” Mr. Akonde stated.

The application includes a comprehensive list of healthcare centers with proximity indicators, allowing users to conveniently choose options based on their location. Additionally, it features a module for communication with NHIA staff.

Mr. Akonde expects the number of downloads to increase with ongoing public awareness efforts about the application's benefits.

The NHIS mobile app serves as a valuable tool in enhancing transparency and empowering users with essential information about their healthcare coverage.
