FC Samartex 1996 claimed the summit of the 2023/24 Ghana Premier League standings after securing a 2-0 triumph over bottom-placed Heart of Lions at the Nsenkyire Sports Complex.
Goals from Emmanuel Mamah and Evans Osei-Wusu propelled FC Samartex to their third consecutive win, accumulating 26 points and securing the top spot. In contrast, Heart of Lions, still winless in the league, remains at the bottom with eight points.
Meanwhile, Asante Kotoko continued their winning streak with a thrilling 3-2 victory against arch-rivals Hearts of Oak at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.
Steven Mukwala's brace and Isaac Oppong's goal propelled Asante Kotoko to their fourth successive win, placing them sixth in the league table with 22 points.
Despite Linda Mtange and Martin Karikari's strikes, Hearts of Oak suffered their second consecutive loss, dropping to ninth place with 16 points.
Nations FC maintained an impressive home record by defeating Aduana Stars 2-1 at the Dr. Kwame Kyei Sports Complex, securing their fifth successive win.
Goals from Barimah Baah and Nafiu Suleman propelled Nations FC to fifth place in the league, just three points behind leaders FC Samartex 1996.
Aduana Stars, despite the loss, held on to the second position with 24 points, level with Nsoatreman, who shockingly lost their home fixture against Karela United.
Bechem United and Legon Cities also enjoyed triumphant performances in their home matches, securing convincing wins against Accra Lions (4-0) and Real Tamale United (3-1), respectively.
